Stem Cell Hair Restoration

  • Follicular Unit Transplant (FUT), also known as the Strip Hair Transplant Procedure
  • Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE), the No Stitch-No Linear Scar Hair Transplant
  • Scalp Micro-pigmentation, a non-surgical solution
  • Non-surgical hair restoration procedures to treat or manage your hair loss.
  • Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP), a non-surgical treatment
  • Regenerative treatments have become a popular treatment approach for many kinds of injuries – and rightfully so.

With recent scientific advances, they offer new hope for recovery and have (in many cases) proven to be more effective than some of the more traditional approaches to pain management.

The most exciting and promising regenerative treatments involve the use of stem cells. Professional athletes like Kobe Bryant and Peyton Manning have turned to stem cell injections to speed their recovery from injury with great success.

Stem cell injections are more effective than the Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) injections that some specialists recommend – and importantly, they can be covered by insurance (PRP is not). Stem cells have a unique ability to develop into many types of other cells in the body (e.g. muscle, bone, tendon, cartilage), and offer the opportunity to truly heal and repair an injury.

We Are Leading The Way…

At Stem Cell Specialists, we are one of the few clinics in the country utilizing stem cell injections to promote healing. We have two options for patients who are candidates for stem cell injections. The first utilizes donated stem cells from umbilical cords. These cells are donated after live births, after the umbilical cord has been cut – so there are none of the legal or ethical concerns that come from using fetal stem cells. The second option involves using a patient’s own stem cells. With new technology, a patient’s own stem cells can be taken from the fat in the “love handle” area. It is a simple outpatient procedure with minimal to no pain afterward. This is an especially compelling option compared to the painful harvesting of stem cells from bone marrow.

Regenerative injections are done in our medical office in New York City with either x-ray or ultrasound guidance, and they are no more invasive than a typical injection into a joint or tendon. There is minimal to no pain after the injection – compared to PRP injections, which usually result in increased soreness for a few days. With stem cell injections, the tissue typically begins to heal itself in 4-6 weeks – with healing continuing for up to 3 months.
